Radius

Relax. As serious as it may be at times—or as we may attempt to make it—fly fishing is really about having fun. Focusing on something other than your daily grind, forgetting your troubles and connecting. Connecting with nature, your actions, and hopefully some fish. With that in mind we designed Radius as a departure from its siblings; built to enhance your feel and connection to the process rather than solve for specific problem sets. Whether tossing Clousers for bass, throwing stimulators for trout or flipping poppers for sun fish, Radius is as easy going as a day off on the water. The ideal mix of deeper flex and quick recovery, a great companion for time spent washing the world away, making memories and having fun. Oh, and we didn’t forget the adage . . . “look good, feel good, fish good” . . . to that end, Radius is decked out in all the posh components.

Impressive Rod, Great Price

I recently bought a Radius 9' 4wt on closeout at my local fly shop. The shop owner said he can't move Lamson rods due to their lack of marketing. And it's a damn shame, because this is a GREAT rod.

First off, I love the action--I'd call it a medium fast. It's nice and smooth, but still has reserve power. Today I was punching big Chubbies into a still wind and had no issues.

Secondly, it has great recovery--as good as or better than a top of the line Sage. The quick recovery translates to accuracy. Today the fish were holding right next to the bank. The target window was about 3" wide and I hit it all day long.

Also, it's light, has a great grip and reel seat, and has a nice finish. This rod has replaced my Sage 4wt. I can't recommend it enough.

Thanks for the vote of confidence in our rods! The Radius is an awesome rod for dries.

Perfect trout rod!

I purchased the 4 weight. It’s the perfect rod for trout fishing in Colorado. It casts like a dream and has enough backbone to get a larger fish in.

An $900 performance for half the price

I picked up one of these second hand after reading reviews on them and needing a backup rod. I fish a 9' 5wt Douglas Sky G, and bought this and a Sage R8 Core I picked up for cheap too. Spent a weekend fishing all three rods and ended up preferring this to the Sage, and it's a bit of a "Pepsi vs Coke" blind taste test between it and the Douglas. Unparalleled performance for the money. If you're needing a rod upgrade and don't want to spend over $600, this is the one for you

Thanks David! Thats high praise and we appreciate you letting us know.

Great medium action rod

This has been a great rod for clients casting a lighter dry-dropper rig. The action lets it load even when casting shorter distances and makes it easy to mend and feed line.

A wolf in sheep’s clothing…

A wolf in sheep’s clothing, a sleeper… Call it what you want, but this is one of the finest tapered 9’ four weights I’ve cast - at any price. I’ve cast and/or own 490-4 configurations from makers such as Sage, Loomis, Scott, Winston, Orvis, Hardy, Douglas, etc. This is a tricky size to get right and this Radius is easily my favorite. Fish it with a Rio Gold for a nearly perfect match. From fly in hand up close to as far as you would want to fish a four, it forms beautiful loops - you control the size. The blank feels like a one piece, providing the caster constant feedback. I also spent a little time with the 590-4 Radius - much of the same. Looking forward to fishing more with this Radius. Thank you, Lamson!

We appreciate the informed review! The Radius is a fantastic casting rod in all the sizes.
