Under capacity

This is a quality real with a bomber drag system, but it doesn’t hold as much backing as advertised. The 10 with a saltwater shooting line held just under 200yds of 30# backing.

Appreciate you letting us know! If you don’t mind send us an email to customersupport@lamsonflyfishing.com with the line make/model and backing that you put on there so we can check it out.

Finally found what I've been looking for

Bought the LQ Max 8. Its exactly what I've been wanting for the briny. Fast retrieve large arbour, narrow spool, wicked drag and it looks cool as. All at a very reasonable price. Thank you Lamson.

Thank you! The LQ Max is an awesome new addition to our line up. We appreciate you letting us know what you think.

Good for salt and freshwater

8 balances nicely on my 7 wt velocity rod. Already used it for streamer fishing for big browns on a local river. Drag is easily adjustable and I like the sound both going out and reeling in. I am planning on using this outfit for steelhead in OR and ID, as well as light saltwater in Cancun ( in the lagoon). I think it will work well for baby tarpon and snook. Lamson is my favorite rod and reel company. I wish you would make 2 handed rods and heavier blue water rods.

Thanks for letting us know what you are looking for from us! Ill pass the word along. Hope that trip is fantastic for you and Liquid Max will be ready to dance with those baby tarpon.

Spool removal?

So it appears that the spool does not pop off like my other Lamson reels. It takes a special tool?
Which way does it turn? Right to tighten?

The Liquid Max reels use a thumb screw to keep the spool in place. On the spool side of the reel you will see a round disc with raised ridges in the center. Hold onto the spool and turn lefty loosy and it should unthread, allowing you to remove the spool. If its on tight use your shirt or a rubber pad for more grip. Once its loose it will be good to go! If none of that is working shoot an email to customersupport@lamsonflyfishing.com and we can get a tool in the mail for you.
